Abstract (eng)
This diploma thesis deals with the European development policy in African countries.
Prior to discuss the issues of development polify, the European Union, Austrian and German development policy in Ethiopia, terms and definitions such as development, developing countries, development aid, policy and cooperation as well as AKP – countries will be clarified in the first chapter of the theoretical part.
A short overview of the development of the Union will give an insight to the evolution of the development policy within the policy area of the European Union. Subsequently, the common development policy of the European Union, the legal fundamentals, the actors, the instruments and the funding of European development policy will be be described. The last chapter of the theoretical part will depict the historic and politicial evolution of African countries with special attention to the evolution of Ethiopia.
The empirical part deals with the development policy of the European Union, Austria and Germany especially in Africa and in more detail the development policy of these regions in Ethiopia. First of all, there will be a focus on the European, Austrian and German development policy in Africa and moreover there will be a case study concerncing Ethiopia.
On the one hand, this diploma thesis will demonstrate the current situation of the European development policy, on the other hand it should be clarified that a coordinated development policy of the European countries can be beneficial.
