Die Arbeit setzt sich mit der Gattung der Novelle und speziell deren Aspekt der Ereigniserzählung auseinander. Sie befragt das Verhältnis von Ereignis und Erzählung an Textbeispielen von Goethe und Hofmannsthal und legt besonderen Wert auf die Zeitkonzeptionen, die dabei zur Geltung kommen. Die Autonomie des künstlerischen Textes und die Einmaligkeit des Augenblicks treten als thematische Schwerpunkte des untersuchten Problemzusammenhangs zu Tage.

The subject of the thesis is the literary genre of the German Novelle, with special focus on the narration of events. It analyzes the relation between narration and event by means of texts written by Goethe and Hofmannsthal and puts special emphasis on the incorporated conceptions of time. The autonomy of the literary text and the uniqueness of the moment turn out to be focal points of the analyzed subject matter.
