Die vorliegende Arbeit analysiert das Phänomen Vertrauen unter Heranziehung his¬torischer und moderner theoretischer Ansätze aus Theologie, Philosophie, Anthro¬pologie, Soziologie, Psychologie und Pädagogik. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf der Rele¬vanz der theoretischen Ausführungen für die aktuellen Krisen in Wirtschaft und Fi¬nanzwelt. Das Vertrauen als eine soziale Ressource scheint ein „Eckstein“ bei der Bewältigung von Krisen zu sein. Die Bedrohung für Menschen und Staaten durch zu viel bzw. zu wenig Vertrauen ist groß. Der Beitrag der Theologie und insbesondere der Ethik erscheint dringend notwendig auf dem Weg zu einer wertorientierten und damit krisenfesteren Ökonomie und Finanzwelt.

The thesis analyses trust from several points of sciences: theology, philosophy, anthropology, sociology, psychology, and pedagogics. The emphasis is on the rele-vance of theoretical thoughts to the recent economical and financial crisis. Trust as a social resource seems to be one of the „cornerstones“ in managing the crisis. Men and states are threatened by too much and too less confidence respectively. Theo-logy and above all ethics should contribute to a stable and value-oriented economy and financial system.
