Abstract (eng)
This thesis, deals with two different
perspectives:
the perspective of the residents,
and the perspective of the professional nurse,
of the autonomy in old age,
in relation to the experience of everyday of life,
at a Viennese institution of professional care in
old age, at a pensioners house, in the south of
Vienna.
The both views, as is clear from the literature,
are explored a little.
In this thesis, will be the experience of the
elderly received, to explore the perspective of
their autonomy and then to describe it.
A life of older people, who have moved to an
institution of Viennese professional care in old
age, for spend the last stage of life
autonomously.
It’s a life, which strikes a highly ordered
structure, but created by human, on the one
hand.
Since other, there are nurses, who want to
give these people a high degree of autonomy
and at the same time have to respect the
standards and must be complied with any
obligations.
It is therefore often a balancing act for the
nurses, who often must make critical decisions,
to safeguard and encouraged the autonomy of
the residents.
There is often a near hopeless battle with the
free will of the people, and sometimes
recalcitrant their families, which the nurses are
exposed.
Despite many hurdles, the system exists and
works well for a long time.
There are always the new requirements,
in order to innovative unit the both worlds
under one roof.
