Abstract (deu)
Diese Literaturstudie untersucht die „Care“-Theorien von Watson, Paterson und Zderad und Travelbee, sowie die Theorien zu gestörten Funktionen von Roy, Neuman und Orem auf explizite, vor allem aber auf implizite Aussagen zur Würde von Patienten/Patientinnen. Diese Ergebnisse werden miteinander verglichen und anschließend auf Ähnlichkeiten oder Unterschiede mit Studien zu den Themen „Sterben in Würde“ und „Würde von chronisch kranken Menschen“ untersucht, um festzustellen, wie sich der theoretische Würdebegriff zur Empirie verhält. Dabei konnte festgestellt werden, dass die Würde unter anderem gewahrt werden kann, wenn die Arbeitsroutine der Pflegepersonen durchbrochen wird, indem der Patient/die Patientin als ganzheitliches Individuum wahrgenommen und sowohl auf seine/ihre Bedürfnisse als auch auf die der Pflegeperson selbst, eingegangen wird. Auch ein wertschätzender und respektvoller Umgang trägt zu einer würdevollen Beziehung zwischen Pflegeperson und Patient/Patientin bei.

The aim of this diploma thesis is to explore on the one hand, the “Care-Theories” developed by Watson, Paterson and Zderad as well as Travelbee and how they describe dignity in their nursing theories explicitly and implicitly and on the other hand, the “Theories of Impaired Functions” developed by Roy, Neuman and Orem and how they elaborate on dignity in their nursing theories explicitly and implicitly. These results will be compared and subsequently similarities and differences with studies about “dignity in chronic diseases” and “dying in dignity” are going to be explored. The objective is to determine whether the theoretical framework of dignity is similar or different to the dignity described in the studies. Many results have been found, dignity can for example be maintained when nurses try to break out of their daily routine at working treating the patient in a holistic way as a unique person whilst responding to the patient’s as well as the nurse’s needs. Furthermore, dignity can be maintained, when the relation between patient and nurse is characterized by value, respect and esteem.
