Abstract (eng)
The aim of the present diploma thesis is the comparison of special products for diabetics with conventional products. This thesis will examine, if the consump-tion of these products has any significant advantages for diabetic patients.
Therefore 28 different products, which were available in supermarkets in Vienna during the time of february and march 2011, were compared with conventional products on the basis of their nutrient content and price.
A detailed analysis of the products’ composition and the interpretation of nu-merous relevant studies shows that the examined products cannot be consi-dered recommendable: Main points of criticism are the high fat and protein content and the price.
