Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es Motivationen, angestrebten Veränderungen und Auswirkungen von Güneşköy, einer Ökodorf-Initiative nahe Ankara (Türkei), zu beleuchten. Vor dem Hintergrund von Debatten zu Entwicklung und Umweltaktivismus vor allem in Sozialwissenschaften und dem lokalen Kontext der Türkei werden Spannungsfelder einerseits innerhalb der Initiative andererseits im Verhältnis zu seinen Nachbarn im Dorf Hisarköy aufgezeigt. Biologische Landwirtschaft dient dabei als konkretes Beispiel von Wandel anhand dessen unterschiedliche Positionen zwischen Hisarköy und Güneşköy unterstrichen werden. Interviews mit Mitgliedern der Güneşköygruppe ergänzen teilnehmende Beobachtung dieser in 2010 und 2011 durchgeführten explorativen Forschung.
Die Ergebnisse betonen, dass sich die Initiative nicht in einem machtfreien Raum befindet und historischer Kontext sowie existierende Machtverhältnisse eine bedeutende Rolle spielen. Mehr als konkrete Aktivitäten prägen Interessen und Erwartungen wie die Initiative in Hisarköy dargestellt und evaluiert wird, wobei Kommunikation einen vitalen Faktor darstellt. Neue Wege der Zusammenarbeit und Vorbeugung sowie Verminderung von Missverständnissen stellen eine Herausforderung sowohl für Mitglieder von Güneşköy als auch Dorfbewohner dar, die es zu bewältigen gilt um Visionen von Veränderung in Richtung nachhaltiger Lebensweise gemeinsam zu verwirklichen.

The aim of this study is to explore motivations, targeted changes and effects of Güneşköy, an ecovillage-initiative near Ankara. Debates on development and environmentalism especially in the social sciences and in the local context of Turkey set the context for showing tensions within the ecovillage initiative as well as in relation to its neighbours in the village of Hisarköy. The negotiations of organic agriculture, a concrete example of change, serve to underline different positions between Güneşköy and Hisarköy. Interviews with Güneşköy members and villagers added to participant observation in this explorative study in 2010 and 2011.
The findings emphasise the importance of the historical context and existing power struggles and interests a project is situated in. Interests and expectations shape the way the project is portrayed and evaluated by Hisarköy more than actual activities, with communication being a vital factor in these evaluations. Finding new ways of collaboration and the prevention and reduction of misunderstandings remains a challenge for both Hisarköy and Güneşköy that needs to be tackled to be able to together work on the realization of visions of a more environmentally sustainable lifestyle.
