Abstract (eng)
The reciprocal process of the interconnection between the body and society is reflected through the art form of dance. In this process, we can observe all major aspects concerning the body in Social and Cultural Anthropology, including gender, health, age, identity, lifestyle, subculture, aesthetics etc. The transnational moving culture called „Bollywood-dance“ is influencing and being adapted by local practices, and vice versa – the local practices have impact on the global ones.
Live-Bollywood dance has emerged from the Hindi-film dance and became an autonomous dance form performed on stage or practiced in dance studios, in diverse communities and at home. The many forms of live-Bollywood dance range from fitness and recreational to professional dance. The live-dance is situated somewhere between art and kitsch, professionalism and non-professionalism, autonomy and institutionalism. It is a global and remixed dance form with an open and transformable character.
Dancescape represents the imaginary and the symbolic, as well as a real, trans-cultural and local space of many possibilities. In this space, the participants experience a feeling of community and self-realization. Dancescape is a place where myths and other narratives are transformed into visual performative practises through trans-medial processes. The ImPulsTanz Workshop-Festival is also situated in the dancescape and represents a temporary dance community. Participation in the „workshop culture“ is to be seen as a part of a global urban lifestyle, in which the participants of the „Bollwood Dance“-Workshop with Terence Lewis take part. What motivates them is curiosity to try something new, an openness to different cultural forms and a willingness to learn something in an informal way. The participants are also inspired by the film dancing and the group choreography, which create a sense of joy, community and build self-esteem, as well as go beyond the experiences of everyday life – while at the same time influencing everyday life.
