Damals wie heute geben die Kleidung und auch die Textilien Auskunft über Rang und Namen des Trägers sowie dessen gesellschaftlicher Stellung. Soziale Unterschiede zwischen dem Volk und den Vornehmen wurden in der Ausstattung der Kleidung sichtbar gemacht.
