Eine vergleichende Studie der Londoner Southbank und Kopenhagen Harbourfront. Mit einer Analyse der Planungspolitik und kulturelle Darstellung der Studie verortet jeden Raum in ihrem gesellschaftlichen Kontext. Die Studie zieht dann einen Vergleich zwischen dem gesellschaftlichen Kontext und Planungsabsichten für den Raum, und die visuelle und räumliche Realität in Existenz jetzt. Dies wird durch eine Beobachtung der räumlichen und optischen Merkmale der Bereiche durchgeführt. Die Studie zeigt, dass beide Bereiche haben von Industriegebieten, neue post-industriellen Einsatz angepasst: speziell, Kultur-centric öffentlichen Raum. Allerdings sind sie in ihren neueren Ansatz auf die Marktkräfte und Neoliberalismus unterscheiden Kopenhagen hat starke Regierung zur Kultur über Verbrauch priorisieren, während London hat Konsumismus umarmt. Diese Unterschiede in der räumlichen und optischen Eigenschaften jeder Raum gut sichtbar. Das Vorkommen bestimmter Trends und Typologien gibt Hinweise auf Unterschiede in London und Kopenhagen Gesellschaft und hat insbesondere Auswirkungen auf die Heterogenität und der städtischen Lebensqualität für jede Stadt.

A comparative Study of London’s Southbank and Copenhagen’s Harbourfront. Using an analysis of planning policies and cultural representation the study situates each space within its societal context. The study then draws a comparison between the societal context and planning intentions for the space, and the visual and spatial reality in existence now. This is undertaken through an observation of the spatial and visual characteristics of the spaces. The study shows that both spaces have been adapted from industrial areas to new post-industrial use: specifically, culture-centric public spaces. However they differ in their more recent approach to market forces and neo-liberalism Copenhagen has used strong government to prioritise culture above consumption, whilst London has embraced consumerism. Such differences are highly visible in the spatial and visual characteristics of each space. The presence of certain trends and typologies is evidence of differences in London and Copenhagen society and has particular implications for the heterogeneity and quality of urban life for each city.
