Im Rahmen des Theaterfestivals Israel.Stücke.Aktuell wurde in den Jahren 2014 und 2015 israelische Gegenwartsdramatik nach Wien geholt. Israelisches Theater ist in hohem Maße politisches Theater, das sich mit Fragen der nationalen Identität auseinandersetzt. Noya Lancets Stück 1948, das auf dem Roman von Yoram Kaniuk beruht, wurde 2015 in Wien aufgeführt. Es behandelt die Erfahrungen des jungen Yoram Kaniuks im israelischen Unabhängigkeitskrieg aus heutiger Perspektive. Durch eine Stückanalyse werden in der vorliegenden Masterarbeit Inhalte des kulturellen Gedächtnisses in Israel herausgearbeitet. Im zweiten Teil fokussiert der Blick auf den Kontext der Aufführungen in Österreich und Israel.

Within the framework of the theater festival Israel.Stücke.Aktuell, Israeli contemporary plays were brought to Vienna. Israeli theater is particularly concerned with political questions and national identity. Noya Lancet's play 1948, based on Yoram Kaniuk’s novel, was staged in Vienna in 2015. It deals with the experiences of young Yoram Kaniuk during the Israeli War of Independence from today’s perspective. In the first part of my analysis, I interpret the content of the play using the concept of cultural memory. In the second part, I focus on the Austrian and Israeli context of the theater shows.
