Abstract (eng)
This paper deals with dialect translation in children and young adults’ literature and it shows how translation methods for dialect can be applied based on some practical examples. The paper first gives an overview of translation methods for dialect discussed in translation studies and their implications. In the course of the practical part, four English novels by Terry Pratchett and their translations are analysed, specifically non-standard elements in the ST and TT. The analysis shows that translation methods for dialect are applied differently depending on the translator, and that the focus lies on linguistic means of translation. Following the analysis, further possible methods specific to these novels are discussed.
