Die vorliegende Masterarbeit behandelt die Auswirkungen der Flugzeugkatastrophe von Smolensk auf den polnischen gesamtgesellschaftlichen Diskurs im Zeitraum April 2010. Mithilfe der diskurslinguistischen Mehr-Ebenen-Analyse (DIMEAN) werden sprachliche Besonderheiten der Tageszeitungen „Gazeta Wyborcza“ und „Rzeczpospolita“ sowie der Wochenzeitungen „Polityka“ und „Gazeta Polska“ auf drei Ebenen untersucht: Intratextuell, auf der Ebene der Akteure und transtextuell. Gestützt auf den Diskursbegriff nach Foucault liegt das Erkenntnisinteresse im Aufzeigen von soziokulturellen Wahrheiten in Form von vermitteltem Wissen, welches unter anderem anhand von Schlüsselwörtern, Kollektivsymbolen und Metaphern, Argumentationstopoi sowie Diskurspositionen der Akteure des medialen Diskurs kenntlich gemacht wird. In der empirischen Analyse werden diese Untersuchungsgegenstände auf die drei zentralen Themengebiete innerhalb des vorliegenden Diskursabschnitts ausgelegt: Zusammenhalt und Spaltung innerhalb der polnischen Gesellschaft, Dynamiken in den polnisch-russischen Beziehungen und Mythen- und Legendenbildung um den Präsidenten Lech Kaczyński. Im Untersuchungsinteresse liegt hierbei der Zeitraum April 2010, der nach Victor Turners Ritualtheorie in die Phase der Liminalität fällt, was anhand der Bildung einer Communitas im Zuge der synoptischen Zusammenfassung veranschaulicht wird.

This master's thesis addresses the impact of the Smolensk air disaster on the Polish social discourse in April 2010. With the help of the discourse-linguistic multi-level analysis (DIMEAN), linguistic peculiarities of the daily newspapers "Gazeta Wyborcza" and "Rzeczpospolita" as well as the weekly magazines "Polityka" and "Gazeta Polska" are examined on three levels: Intratextual, on the level of the actors and transtextual. Based on the discourse concept by Foucault, the particular interest lies in the identification of socio-cultural truths in the form of mediated knowledge, which is identified, among other things, by means of key words, collective symbols and metaphors, argumentation patterns as well as discourse positions of the actors of the media discourse. In the empirical analysis these objects of investigation will be interpreted in relation to the three central topics within the present section of the Smolensk-discourse: Cohesion and division within Polish society, dynamics in Polish-Russian relations and the formation of myths and legends about the president Lech Kaczyński. Of particular interest for this analysis is the period of April 2010 which, according to Victor Turner's theory, falls into the liminal stage, which can be illustrated by the creation of the so-called Communitas.
