Description (spa)
This is a database of verses from 425 plays of the Spanish Golden Age, written by or attributed to 23 playwrights, the most numerous being those of Calderón de la Barca and Lope de Vega. The source texts are taken from edited scholarly editions, cited in the appropriate field. Each verse is accompanied by editorial, dramatic and metrical information. This includes the author, title, subtitle, genre, subgenre of the play in which it is found, the year of the princeps edition, and the credits of the scholarly edition. The dramatic information includes the act and the speech in the play and the character(s) speaking it, together with the character's typology and gender. The database also provides automatically extracted metrical information for each verse, such as the number of syllables, their syllable nuclei, assonance, consonance and rhythm.
