Alexander Benedictus (ca. 1445-1525) war Professor für Anatomie und Chirurgie an der Universität Padua. Er erlangte Berühmtheit für das erste Anatomische Theater in dem er auch selbst sezierte. Er veröffentlichte Schriften zu einer Vielzahl von Themen, aber vorwiegend zur Anatomie. De observatione in pestilentia befasst sich mit der Pest/ Krankheit, Benedictus verweist darin auf Galen und Hippokrates.
