Abstract: Big Data has become a crucial concept for linguistics research due to its statistical paradigm of the analysis of language usage in computational corpus linguistics and computational translation studies. Thus Big Language Data is becoming a cross-disciplinary methodology that is increasingly applied in relevant research projects. The paper will demonstrate examples of research platforms implemented at the University of Vienna with its CLARIN core facility and a federated research infrastructure including a language technology and machine translation research environment as well as a networked research platform for the new SFB long-term project investigating the use of the German language in Austria.
