Willebrord van Roijen Snell (auch Willebrordus Snel van Royen oder Snellius; 1580 - 1626) war ein niederländischer Astronom und Mathematiker. Er ist bekannt für die Entwicklung des optischen Brechungsgesetzes, nach ihm als Snelliussches Gesetz bezeichnet (wiewohl man inzwischen weiß, dass dieses Gesetz schon im Jahr 984 von Ibn Sahl beschrieben wurde). Er gebrauchte den Namen Snellius für wissenschaftliche Veröffentlichungen.

Willebrord Snellius (born Willebrord Snel van Royen (1580 - 1626) was a Dutch astronomer and mathematician. In the west his name has been attached to the law of refraction of light for several centuries, but it is now known that this law was first discovered by Ibn Sahl in 984.
