Der Franziskaner Angelus Carletus (1411-1495) war apostolischer Nuntius und Kommissar für den Türkenkreuzzug. Berühmt wurde sein Name durch die vorliegende Summa casuum , nach seinem Vornamen auch Summa Angelica genannt. Besondere Bedeutung erhielt das Werk in den Kämpfen der Reformation, als Luther, der es als Summa plus quam diabolica bezeichnete, das Buch zusammen mit den päpstlichen Gesetzbüchern in Wittenberg verbrannte.

Franciscan Angelus Carletus (1411-1495) was apostolic nuncio and Commissioner for the Turkish crusade. Famous for his name by the present Summa casuum, named after his first name also Summa Angelica. Particular importance was given to the work of the struggles of the Reformation, when Luther, who described it as the sum plus quam diabolica, the book along with the papal law books burned in Wittenberg.
