The present contribution reviews the diplomatics of Babylonian administrative letters from the “long sixth century BC” (626-484). An examination of the diplomatics applied by the Babylonian scribes allows us to get a better understanding of the administrative practices of the period. At the same time we will draw attention to the limitations of this methodology in the context of epistolographic sources. Before delving into the corpus itself, it is essential to lay out some of the key terms that will be used throughout this paper.
