„Drama and Zeitgeist in Austria between 1980 and 1990” discusses the production of Austrian playwrights written within this period. Considera- tion is given to plays that have been staged as well as to plays presented by Austrian drama publishers. Not included in the discussion are the most well known contemporary Austrian playwrights Peter Handke, Thomas Bernhard, Peter Turrini, and Elfriede Jelinek; a great number of individual studies on those four au- thors exist already. These studies are listed however. Several plays are closely analysed that are hardly known outside Aus- tria. An alphabetical index of authors and comprehensive bibliographical information on primary and secondary literature conclude the dissertation, which is written in German language.
