Michael Maier (* 1569 in Kiel, † 1622, vermutlich in Magdeburg) war ein paracelsischer Arzt und Alchemist, der sich nach dem Erscheinen der Rosenkreuzerschriften maßgeblich für deren Echtheit und Ziele einsetzte. Im Gegensatz zu Johann Valentin Andreä und seinem Kreis stand für ihn nicht der reformatorische und soziale Gesichtspunkt im Mittelpunkt, sondern das naturwissenschaftliche Interesse eines Alchemisten.
