The purpose of tourism maps has changed over the past 20 years, from standardized tourism maps to specialised outdoor maps. In this diploma thesis the data base aims to create a new city map, the design problems of maps and the development of city tourism will be described. A practical example, a family-/ low-budget city map is designed on the basis of London City. Hence, there also will be a corresponding part in the work about tourism and the top attractions in London. In line with this diploma thesis a tourism city map has been created, which was adopted to the needs and wishes of the target group "family" and "low-budget tourist". Additionally to developing a new tourism city map, a survey in London and in Austria was realized. The last chapter will concentrate on the question: "Do analogue maps have a future in a digital world with digital maps, available on mobile phones and navigation systems?"
