Die Diplomarbeit „Schulbuchanalyse: Soziokultureller Evolutionismus. Jäger und Sammler in österreichischen Geschichtsschulbüchern“ handelt von der Darstellung soziokultureller Entwicklung von Menschen in österreichischen Geschichtschulbüchern und dem daraus resultierenden Bild von heutigen Jägern und Sammlern, wie auch explizit vermittelten Eindrücken von ebendiesen. Zu Beginn der Arbeit wird festgelegt, welche Schulbücher analysiert werden sollen. Danach wird geprüft, wie hoch die Praxisrelevanz der Untersuchung ist. Damit ist gemeint, wie viele Menschen mit den Inhalten der Schulbücher auf ihrem Bildungsweg konfrontiert sind und für wie viele dies die letzte Auseinandersetzung damit auf ihrem Bildungsweg ist. Anschließend werden Kategorien definiert, nach welchen die Schulbücher auf die Themen „Soziokultureller Evolutionismus“ und „Jäger und Sammler“ untersucht werden. Entsprechende Passagen aus den Schulbüchern werden zunächst zur Gänze zitiert, um diese am Ende der Arbeit im Abgleich mit wissenschaftlichen Standpunkten analysieren zu können. Dadurch soll ersichtlich werden, inwieweit sich das Wissen, welches durch die Schulbücher vermittelt wird, mit dem Stand der Wissenschaft deckt bzw. davon abweicht.

The diploma thesis „Textbook Analysis: Sociocultural Evolutionism. Hunters and Gatherers in Austrian History Textbooks“ deals with the presentation of the socio-cultural development of humans in Austrian history textbooks, the resulting picture of contemporary hunters and gatherers, and which impressions and implications of such societies are transferred by textbooks. Firstly the textbooks to be analyzed are selected. After this the practical relevance of the study is surveyed. Practical relevance in this respect means how many people are actually confronted with the content of the textbooks during their educational process and for how many people this encounter is the last encounter with the topic in their education. In the next part the categories according to which the textbooks are examined are defined. Here corresponding passages of the textbooks will be cited as a whole, to make a comparison with scientific positions at the end of the thesis possible easier. Thereby it should become apparent to which extent the knowledge imparted by the textbooks coincides with or deviates from the state-of-the-art of research.
