Abstract (eng)
This study deals with the present situation of lorry drivers. The main focus lies on their work environment, mundane stressors and problems within the transport sector with a particular interest in safety issues and the ongoing discussions about global warming and the economic crisis. This study revolves around an inquiry of 131 lorry drivers about external factors, which affect, in conjunction with personal and psycho-logical aspects, the perception of stress and exhibit further implications on driving behaviour. Generally, lorry drivers, especially long-haul truck drivers, are subject to crowded work schedules. They also face many conflicts with other road users, while the whole transport sector was exceptionally hit by the economic crisis, negatively affecting the work environment and job security of most lorry drivers.
For this purpose a written survey was conducted among 131 professional lorry driv-ers, collecting information about their work environment and workload, traffic safety and rules, driver education, other road users, the economic and ecological situation.
