Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Rolle des österreichischen Ökonomen Joseph Alois Schumpeter in der nachfolgenden Forschung, wobei ein besonderer Fokus aus der Entwicklung der evolutionären Theorie der Unternehmung liegt. Viele der von Schumpeter eingeführten Konzepte waren außerordentlich einflussreich und haben wesentlich zur Entstehung weiterer wirtschaftlicher Theorien beigetragen. Die wichtigsten Autoren der evolutionären Theorie der Unternehmung, Sidney Winter und Richard Nelson, bezeichnen sich selbst als „neo-schumpeterian“ (Nelson und Winter 1982, S. 39), kombinieren dabei aber Schumpters Ideen mit den evolutionären Ansätzen von Armen Alchian und Elementen des RBV nach Edith Penrose. In der Nachfolge dieser Autoren beschäftigen sich auch David Teece und Scott Shane auf unterschiedliche Weise mit den gleichen Gedanken. Anhand einiger Konzepte wie der Rolle des Unternehmers, des Unternehmergewinns, der Entwicklung oder der Routinen im Unternehmen wird hier gezeigt, wie Grundelemente der Theorie von Schumpeter ausgehend durch die späteren Autoren weitergeführt, ausgebaut und neu interpretiert werden.

This paper investigates the importance of the work of the Austrian economist Joseph Alois Schumpeter for subsequent research and his influence on the evolutionary theory of the firm. Many of Schumpter´s concepts have proven to be exceedingly influential for the development of further economic theories. The most important authors of the evolutionary theory of the firm, Sidney Winter and Richard Nelson, describe themselves as “neo-schumpeterian” (Nelson and Winter 1982, S. 39) while combining Schumpeter´s ideas with the evolutionary approach developed by Armen Alchian and the RBV of Edith Penrose. Building on the findings of these authors David Teece and Scott Shane developed their own theories that trace back to the same ideas. Some core concepts like the role of the entrepreneur, entrepreneurial profit, development or routines are used to illustrate the process of how Schumpeter´s ideas were rediscovered, adapted and newly interpreted by other authors.
