Abstract (eng)
The aim oft this study is to assess the attitude between gender and age groups regarding to sexuality in advanced age. It is hypothesized that there is no difference between men and women regarding to their attitude to sexuality in old age. It is also hypothesized that there is a difference between younger and older people regarding to the questioning.
The sample included 214 respondents, 53 Men and 161 women, who were between 19 und 74 years old. In average, the male respondents were 34,68, the female 29,98 years old.
Two methods were used to distribute the questionnaires to the 214 respondents:
At first I individually distributed the questionnaires to people from Vienna and Lower Austria. After a few days I collected the filled out questionnaires.
The second sampling method was snowballing the digital version of the questionnaire through the social networks facebook and twitter.
The respondents replied to a questionnaire on their attitude towards sexuality (in old age), how they discussed sexuality within family, sexual orientation, confession and other socio-demographic data.
Based on gender and age, the respondents were assigned to the comparison groups (men, female; <30a, 30-40a, >40a).
Based on the results, it is evident, that both genders – independently of their age group – have a positive attitude towards sexuality in advances age. It is to be noted, that the age group >40a especially shows a very significantly positive attitude towards sexuality in seniority.
