Abstract (eng)
In recent years, television interpreting has become more and more important, mainly due to globalisation. For this reason, it is a field which is increasingly becoming the focus of research. My work will contribute further to the research in this field.
In the first part of this thesis, the concept of television interpreting is clarified and the characteristics of its related stress factors are explained. Moreover, the particular features of television interpreting in the framework of entertainment programmes are illustrated. Following this, certain studies on television interpreting are analysed along with how it is perceived by the audience.
The second half of this thesis illustrates an example of television interpreting, accompanied by intratextual and intertextual analyses. This is followed by two evaluation questionnaires carried out by two groups of people. The first group consists of informed respondents and the second group are laypersons. Finally, the outcomes are compared with those of the study carried out by Delia Chiaro.
The purpose of this work is to verify whether a relationship exists between the perception of the audience and the reliability of the interpreter in order to gain a greater awareness with regard to the television audience’s expectations.
