Abstract (eng)
The aim of the present study was the compilation of a test battery suitable for the psychological assessment of aptitude of pupils for technical vet school or technical vet college. For this purpose, the test battery was applied to pupils who had just started their first year at technical vet school or technical vet college. The later obtained information, who had finished school in time, who had repeated a year, and who had dropped out of school, was used to determine the criterion validity of the test battery. School graduation in time (without repetition of a year) was set as criterion for school success. The carried out discriminant analysis showed that only two test parameters, Arithmetical Competence and Numerical Inductive Reasoning, were able to distinguish between „successful“ and „not successful“ pupils. Hence it was shown that aptitude for technical vet school or technical vet college can be predicted by numerical reasoning abilities, which matches existing research findings according to which school success can be predicted best by cognitive abilities, especially reasoning.
