Abstract (eng)
This diploma thesis deals with the Slovenian theatre in Carinthia and its contribution to identity formation of young Carinthian Slovenes. The aim of this paper is to carve out the significance of the Slovenian theatre with regard to the personality development of adolescents and young adults as well as to identify individual factors of the theatrical performance that have a special influence on them. The thesis is divided in two parts: First, in the theoretical part, the history, rights and the organization of the Carinthian Slovenes are presented. Additionally, the history and meaning of the Slovenian theatre in Carinthia is examined and the concept of identity is discussed. In the second part, an empirical social study is presented: Six adolescents are interviewed by means of qualitative interviews. Subsequently, transcribed interviews are examined through qualitative content analysis. The results of the study show that the Slovenian theatre in Carinthia is of great importance for Carinthian Slovene adolescents and young adults. In particular, the Slovenian amateur theatre offers them the opportunity to deal with Slovenian literary language even outside school. The viewing and listening of theatre plays, especially taking an active part in a play, lead to improved Slovenian language skills of young people. Thus, they expand their vocabulary and refine their expression. In addition, it improves their self-confidence when using Slovenian literary language in public. Moreover, Slovenian dramatics of children and adolescents empower the actors to grapple with foreign characters and at the same time with themselves in their mother tongue.
