Diese Thesis befasst sich mit dem Thema Cloud Computing, mit Schwerpunkt auf dem Bildungssektor. Zentral ist die ökonomische Betrachtungsweise des Themas, um eine möglichst gute Entscheidungsgrundlage für Institutionen zu schaffen. Nach einer Einführung in das Thema werden die wichtigsten Begriffe erklärt, Definitionen dargelegt, wie auch die Formen von Cloud Computing erläutert. In der zentralen betriebswirtschaftlich getriebenen Betrachtung von Cloud Computing wird näher auf die ökonomischen Faktoren, auf unterschiedliche betriebswirtschaftliche Theorien für Investitionsentscheidungen oder die Anwendbarkeit der neuen Institutionenökonomik im Cloud-Computing-Kontext näher eingegangen. Dem Schwerpunkt dieser Thesis, dem Bildungssektor, genauer gesagt den Universitäten und den dortigen Möglichkeiten eines Einsatzes von Cloud Computing, wurde durch durchgeführte Experteninterviews Rechnung getragen.

This thesis is concerned with the topic Cloud Computing, with emphasis on the education sector. The economic viewpoint of the topic is central, in order to create a decision basis for institutions as good as possible. After an introduction to the topic the most important terms are explained, definitions are stated and the different forms of Cloud Computing are explained. In the central business-driven view of Cloud Computing this thesis takes a closer look on the economic factors, on different economic theories to investment decisions, or the applicability of the new institutional economics in the context of Cloud Computing. The emphasis of this thesis, the education sector, more specifically said the universities and their possibilities of use of Cloud Computing, is supported by accomplished expert interviews.
