Die vorliegende Arbeit analysiert die künstlerische Genese des Wiener Rabenhof Theaters im Zeitraum 2003 bis 2013. Die Mittelbühne, welche sich in einer Ge-meindebauanlage im dritten Wiener Gemeindebezirk befindet, hat sich in der letz-ten Dekade durch eine vielfältige Spielplangestaltung und einem originären, inter-disziplinären Theateransatz einen festen Platz in der österreichischen Kulturland-schaft gesichert und macht sich dadurch auch für eine wissenschaftliche Untersu-chung interessant.
Neben einer Aufarbeitung des Programms steht vor allem die Frage nach der indi-viduellen künstlerischen Ausrichtung im Zentrum dieser Arbeit. Zunächst werden die unterschiedlichen Elemente des Rabenhof-Stils einzeln herausgearbeitet und definiert. Zur Überprüfung der dabei gewonnenen Erkenntnisse wird anschließend sowohl auf die Musiktheaterproduktion Iba de gaunz oamen Leit als auch auf das erfolgreiche Format der Politpuppen-Shows näher eingegangen.

The intention of this paper is to analyze the genesis of the distinct artistic style of the Viennese theatre Rabenhof in the period from 2003 to 2013. Over the past decade, the mid-sized stage which is situated in a community housing complex (Gemeindebau) in Vienna’s third district has secured itself a firm position in Austri-a’s cultural scene. The theatre’s multifaceted program as well as its original and interdisciplinary approach make the Rabenhof an interesting subject for a scientific assessment.
Besides an in-depth review of the theatre’s program, a thorough characterization of the individual artistic direction of the Rabenhof lies at the heart of this paper. First and foremost, this involves the identification and definition of the distinct ele-ments of the “Rabenhof-st le”. A subsequent detailed anal sis of the music theatre production “Iba de gaunz oamen Leit” (Viennese dialect, translation: “About the reall poor people”) and the political-satirical puppet shows, a particularly success-ful format of the Rabenhof, will provide the necessary insights to check the initial findings.
