Abstract (eng)
In the history of studies of autism-spectrum-disorders (ASD) Austria plays an essential role because of the research of Hans Asperger and Leo Kanner. However, about seventy years later, the underdeveloped examination of the special assistance of people with ASD in Austria is critized. This does not only concern its implementation, but also the insufficient research related to this topic. Due to the method of an interview with experts chosen for this study, the current situation of the special extracurricular advancement as related to organizational and structural developments in Eastern Austria is depicted in this master thesis. The revealed shortcomings are lacking standards relating to autism specific approaches and concepts of advancement, the absence of comprehensive training facilities and insufficient financial support for associations and affected families, which refer to an urgency of examination of the issue ASD and the expansion of an appropriate care system.
