Abstract (eng)
The following thesis focuses on the different family structures in the Studer-novels – Wachtmeister Studer, Krock & Co., Die Fieberkurve, Der Chinese and Matto regiert – written by Friedrich Glauser. It begins with a brief evolution of the term “family”. Then the thesis provides a clear understanding of the classical detective novel from the "golden age", which includes famous authors such as Agatha Christie or Arthur Conan Doyle. And finally, it explores Friedrich Glauser’s relationship with crime fiction.
The aim of the thesis is to analyze the impact family structures have had on the classical rules of crime novels in Friedrich Glausers oevre. Another interesting aspect that correlates with family structure is the murder scene. The proximity of the family living together correlates to better or more complex relationships between family members. Also, in order to have a traceable structure for the reader, the author uses the family to link villages.
Although classical detectives typically have no family reference, Glauser creates one for his police officer Jakob Studer. His family is used to create the dynamic of a healthy family unit. Finally, the thesis will also explore the importance of the family in the story line.
