Abstract (eng)
This master’s thesis is about effective communication in hospitals. Its main problem is to find out, through which information and communication technologies the business processes in hospitals can be constructed more effective. The goal is to resolve, in which business processes new technologies can be inserted in hospitals and in what way they influence the communication processes between the medical, paramedical staffs, and patients in terms of the communication path, expenditure of time, multi-media offer, quality and patient satisfaction. These mentioned questions are discussed based on the researched literature, process modelling, process analysis, and empirical research.
In order to compare the communication and business processes in the referenced hospital examples in Turkey and Austria, an empirical study is carried out on the basis of assessment of literatures in both hospitals in Turkey and Austria, each with forty patients. According to the interpretation of survey results, it is determined which gaps and deficiencies exist in the communication and business processes of particular hospital and which new technologies or rather services are expected by patient in the hospital.
Based on the researched observations and literature, the essential processes in the hospitals are modelled and analyzed using the business process modelling platform ADONIS or rather ADOxx and the contribution of new technologies are discussed. As a result, the relevant differences between the communication and business processes in both hospitals in Turkey and Austria are determined, and the contributions of new information and communication technologies are presented as a solution for specific communication gaps.
