Abstract (eng)
This thesis documents the surviving sources from the authorities of the so-called Südtiroler Option. Moreover, the thesis serves as source leader for said archival fonds.
An internship, during which the archival sources from the Amtlichen Deutschen Ein- und Rückwandererstelle have been arranged and described, provides the basis for this work.
As part of several authorities, the Amtliche Deutsche Ein- und Rückwandererstelle organized the execution of the resettlement in South Tirol from the German perspective.
After several reorganizations, jurisdictional shifts, and reuse of the sources in the so-called “Rückoption”, the archival sources are only partially preserved. Received are parts from the records of the main body in Bozen and parts from the branch offices in Meran, Brixen and Bruneck. The defective lore allows reflections of the total archival source complex of the “Südtiroler Option”
The first part of the thesis is a description of the administrative history of the authorities in the resettlement, with elements oft the archival-standard for corporate bodies, persons and families, ISAAR(CPF), followed by a custodial history of the different surviving archival fonds. Key aspect of the thesis are the sources provided by the following institutions: Staatsarchiv Bozen, the Südtiroler Landesarchiv, the Tiroler Landesarchiv, the Bundesarchiv in Berlin and the Archivio Centrale dello Stato in Rome.
The practical part of this thesis gives a reflection on the work in the State Archive followed by an implementation of the ISAD(G) conformant archival description.
