Abstract (eng)
The present thesis develops an educational service to draw interest to the Arboretum of
the Botanical Garden at Schönbrunn. Up to now there neither has been gathered information
on this garden area, nor have there been developed concepts for the mediation of the
content.
This work on subject didactics follows the Educational Reconstruction of Kattmann
(2007). The first part of the work provides theoretical background, such as the essentials
for interest formation and principles of providing textual information for exhibitions, concerning
content and visual presentation.
In the second part of this work, the gathered insights are being applied on the Arboretum:
32 tree species are described, which have been chosen according to habitat and age. Distribution,
habitat, botanical content, culinary and medical use and further characteristics
are elaborated. There is information about particular individuals, about the species, or on
information of general interest. Furthermore, historical content is described, such as
changes in the part of the garden, where the specific tree is located, or the expeditions led
by the Habsburger dynasty.
In the final part of this paper, texts for exhibition boards are developed, considering subject
didactical aspects. The exhibition texts and the further information in this paper can
be used for a wide ranged educational service for the park visitors.
