Abstract (eng)
The aim of this thesis was to present a systematic review of quantitative and qualitative studies for the research area „Movement and sports as a therapeutic method in the saluto-genic model“. First, the basic idea of the salutogenic model, which was invented by the jewish-american medicin sociologist Aaron Antonovsky, will be presented, and the func-tioning of the various mechanisms in this model will be analysed. The connection between the sense of coherence/SOC, life story, sociocultural aspects, and health promotion will be examined.
The Salutogenic Model focusses on the exception - e.g. on people who stay sane or re-cover despite difficult circumstances. This is based on a psycological construct called the sense of coherence (SOC), that is composed of the three subcategories comprehensi-bilitty, manageability and meaningfulness.
Whilst Salutogenesis often is used as a hypernym without having analyzed the Sense of Coherence (SOC) itself, in this review there where included only studies which considered research about both the SOC and Movement and Sports. Two main tendencies were shown in both the intervention and the cross-section studies: On the one hand, the SOC is a predictor for doing sports and exercising as well as for health behaviour and on the other hand, movement and sports have the potential to affect the SOC-level.
Therefore, movement is considered an important ressource in the salutogenic model: pro-tective factors can be reinforced and risk factors can be reduced. Furthermore, positive life experiences and social support can affect the state of stress, and also the generel well-being can be influenced in a positive way. Added together, interventions based on sports and movement contribuite to increasing the level of the Sense of Coherence.
