Abstract (deu)
Anthropogener Klimawandel ist ein Phänomen, das von Abstraktheit, Komplexität, Unsicherheit und Kontroversen gekennzeichnet ist. Es stellt kulturell festgesetzte Dualismen wie Natur/Kultur, Gegenwart/Zukunft und Globalität/Lokalität infrage und bezeichnet ein globales Risiko, das das Leben in der Weltrisikogesellschaft prägt. In den vergangenen zehn Jahren erreichte dieses gesellschaftlich bestimmende Thema die Literatur und führte zur Publikation von Romanen, die unter dem Begriff Climate Change Fiction, kurz Cli-Fi, subsumiert werden. Der Fokus dieser Arbeit liegt auf der Analyse von Erzählweisen und Darstellungsstrategien anthropogenen Klimawandels in „risk narratives of anticipation“, in denen die globale Klimakatastrophe noch nicht eingetreten ist, das zukünftige Risiko unsere Gegenwart jedoch schon durchdringt. Anhand Barbara Kingsolvers Flight Behaviour, Ian McEwans Solar und Ilija Trojanows Eistau sollen die erforschten Aspekte verdeutlicht werden.

Anthropogenic Climate Change is a phenomenon characterised by intangibility, complexity, uncertainness and controversy. It challenges culturally established dualisms such as nature/culture, present/future and globality/locality and denotes a global risk that shapes the lives in the world risk society. As a dominant issue of our society it was taken up by literature and led to the publication of of novels that can be subsumed as climate change fiction or cli-fi. This thesis focuses on the analysis of narrative styles and strategies of representation of anthropogenic climate change in risk narratives of anticipation, in which global climate catastrophe has not yet occured, but where the present is already informed by the future risk. The explored aspects are to be illustrated in Barbara Kingsolver’s Flight Behaviour, Ian McEwan’s Solar und Ilija Trojanow’s Eistau.
