Abstract (eng)
The present Master’s thesis deals with the Holy Mass in the Roman Catholic Church as seen from the perspective of translation and terminology studies. It is intended to facilitate and support translational action in the field of theology, performed by translators and interpreters offering German and/or Hungarian language services. Hence, the latest Latin, German and Hungarian missal was analysed and the key terms of the always constant parts of the missal texts were compiled in a glossary of technical terms, consisting of a total of 84 entries including definitions and examples of context.
Furthermore, the aim of this thesis is to give translators and interpreters, for instance in order to carry out an assignment, the opportunity to engage in the topic of the Holy Mass without being required to start an extensive and time-consuming research. Additional research on this subject would be highly desirable, since the field of (Catholic) theology has been neglected in translation studies so far. As a consequence, this thesis is supposed to be regarded as a first step towards improving the situation.
