The master’s thesis deals with the changes of the work conditions of Turkish print journalist, after the AKP coming into power. 90 percent of all the media belong persons close to the AKP, while the rest of the media are independent companies. But no matter for which kind of media company journalists work, the consequences are the same: Journalists can lose their jobs or can be arrested when criticizing the government. Although press freedom is guaranteed under constitutional law, this right is often restricted by other laws. In order to investigate in the changes of work conditions of Turkish print journalists, six interviews with print journalists have been done. In the interviews the journalists give answers to the main research questions and talk about the problems by producing contents, describe the relationship between the government and journalists, talk about the borders of press freedom and about political critics. The results show, that journalism in Turkey is no longer as simple as it was before. Furthermore, it is clearly visible that Recep Tayyip Erdoğans government lead to the division of friendly- and sided media.
