Abstract (eng)
Considering the latest scientific research, the first part of this diploma thesis deals with specific didactic principals for the subject “History and Social Studies/Education for Democratic Citizenship”. The principle of action orientation (“Handlungsorientierung”), which is proven to motivate pupils and to support sustainable learning success through the combination of thinking and acting, is in the centre of attention. The book “Das Ende der Megamaschine” (“The End of the Mega-Machine”), written by Fabian Scheidler, analyzes the roots of the world system our society is living in today and provides the content for the application of the didactic principals with the aim to design and prepare teaching material. The causal relationships and systemic features presented by Scheidler are scientifically well supported and reinforced by scholars and scientists in a variety of fields, such as ecology, sociology, political science and economics. Based on the summary of this system history book throughout each chapter, four teaching concepts have been developed. The concepts treat the topics markets, discovery of America, stock companies and (council) democracy. In consideration of the curriculum and its legal requirements, the outcome of this diploma thesis is four subject areas designed along a diversity of didactic principals and including an abundance of methods, awaiting implementation in the education system.
