Abstract (eng)
This thesis documents the process of archival arrangement and description concerning the „Donauraumplanungen Wiens nach 1945“ records. Those records were taken in custody by the communal archives of Vienna, the Wiener Stadt- und Landesarchiv and document, at their core, the development of an effective flood control. Although action for the regulation of the Danube had already been taken during the 19th century, Vienna was still hit by floods until the mid-20th century. However, during its planning process in the 1960s and the beginning of the 1970s, the project became fiercely debated and politicised, which caused the inclusion of aspects of city-planning, ecology and leisure into the plans. In the end, this resulted in the creation of the “Donauinsel”, the Danube Island, which is, to this day, a very important leisure and recreational area for the Viennese. Unfortunately, the project’s documents, which span over more than three decades, are divided into multiple provenances. It was the author’s task to investigate those differences, to research more details about the documents and to implement those details using the international archival standard ISAD(G), also linking different record groups in the Wiener Stadt- und Landesarchiv in the process. The goal was to create a more detailed and connected collection of record groups for the topic of historical research for interested users. In a first section dedicated to history, the author describes the Donauraumplanungen’s development, challenges, and the administrative departments involved. In the subsequent, more practical section, those details are then integrated into said records. All data was processed in a fashion that allows it to be included into the Wiener Stadt- und Landesarchiv archival information system.
