Abstract (eng)
This final thesis investigates linguistic transfer and vocabulary acquisition in a French classroom. Due to historical and political processes, one can find a large number of French loan words in the Turkish language until today. For this reason, the French and the Turkish languages will be in the centre of attention. Firstly, the number of French loan words which are accessible in a certain corpus of words and their most common appearance is investigated. Secondly, the possibilities to use the Turkish language as a transfer language in a French classroom is analysed. On the basis of an analysis of vocabulary in the French textbook "On y va! A1", 743, nouns are examined based on their graphical and/or phonetical similarities. In the course of the analysis, it is demonstrated that 241 substantives (32.44 %) contain graphical and/or phonetical similarities in both languages. A further etymological investigation shows that 177 (23.82 %) of the 743 substantives have its origins in French language. These French loan words mainly concern professional designations. Furthermore, graphical and/or phonetical similarities can be especially observed in prefixes like “oto-“, “psik-“ and “foto-“. In order to promote progress in linguistic transfers from Turkish to French language, it might be useful treating different linguistic areas: French and Turkish affixes, French nasal sounds, compound words, double consonants and vowels, etc. Nevertheless, it remains unclear which of these French loan words in Turkish language are still used today.
