Abstract (deu)
Die vorliegende Arbeit behandelt die Filme El Topo (1970) und The Holy Mountain (1973) von Alejandro Jodorowsky. Eine Analyse der wesentlichen Merkmale der beiden Filme soll einer daraus resultierenden Beschreibung des kinematografischen Stils des Regisseurs vorausgehen. Im Zentrum steht die These, dass seine Filme immer eine Suche nach der Erleuchtung beziehungsweise verschiedene Stufen eines Bewusstwerdungsprozesses thematisieren. Meistens, doch nicht immer, werden diese Prozesse von der Hauptfigur durchlebt, deren Reise im Film beschrieben wird und deren Parallelen zur Realität des Regisseurs aufgezeigt werden. Die technischen Stilmittel, die Jodorowsky bei der Produktion seiner Filme dabei hauptsächlich verwendet, werden in dieser Arbeit beschrieben und dann in Form von Beispielen aus den Filmen diskutiert.

This study focuses on the analysis of the main characteristics of the two movies El Topo (1970) and The Holy Mountain (1973), both directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky, which will result in a description of the cinematographic style of the director. At the center of interest stands the thesis that his movies are always stories about enlightenment or the different stages of some sort of realization process of the protagonist or other characters of the movies. The journey of the movies’ characters will be described and parallels to the life of Jodorowsky will be shown. The main cinematographic techniques Jodorowsky uses to emphasize the content of his works will first be described and then discussed.
