Diese Masterarbeit analysiert den Zusammenhang zwischen der internationalen Umwelt- und Energiepolitik am Beispiel der Internationalen Energieagentur (die IEA). Das Studium analysiert Aktivitäten der IEA und zeigt, dass sich die Energieagentur mit der Zeit entwickelt hat. Die IEA hat Umweltziele in ihre Arbeit eingebettet; sie stellt Akteuren der internationalen Umweltregime technische Unterstützung, Energiedaten und –statistiken sowie Energiepolitikstrategien zur Verfügung; zusätzlich ist die IEA zu einem starken Befürworter der erneuerbaren Energien geworden. Diese Arbeit zeigt, dass es „eine ideelle Vernetzung“ „an ideational interconnection“ (das heißt ein gegenseitiges institutionelles Lernen) zwischen der IEA und den Institutionen der internationalen Umweltpolitik gibt. Die IEA agiert dabei als Brücke zwischen der internationalen Umwelt- und Energiepolitik.

This paper analyzes the interconnection between Global Environmental and Energy Governance on the example of the International Energy Agency (the IEA). The study analyzes the activities of the IEA and shows that the IEA has evolved over time: the Agency has embedded environmental objectives into its work; it provides actors of the climate regime with technical assistance, energy dataset and statistics as well as sustainable policy recommendations; in addition it has become a strong advocate of renewable. This analysis demonstrates that there is “an ideational interconnection” (where one institution may learn from another) between the IEA and institutions of the climate regime and thereby the IEA serves as a bridge between Global Environmental and Energy Governance.
