Abstract (deu)

Kanada war 2017 das zweite Land der Welt, das eine feministische Außenpolitik verfolgte. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, Kanadas Behauptung zu bewerten. Durch eine feministische Linse für internationale Beziehungen rekonzeptualisiere ich die Konzepte von Sicherheit und internationaler Ethik. Diese Theorie dienen als Maßstab für die Bewertung der kanadischen feministischen Außenpolitik. In Anlehnung an Kanadas Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP) wird in dieser Arbeit eine kritische Diskursanalyse durchgeführt. Durch die kritische Diskursanalyse wird deutlich, dass FIAP diskursiv eine binäre Gender Ordnung reproduziert, insbesondere zwischen männlichen Spender- und weiblichen Empfängerstaaten. Diese Reproduktion ist unvereinbar mit dem feministischen Projekt, geschlechtsspezifischen Hierarchien Widerstand zu leisten.

Abstract (eng)

In 2017, Canada was the second country in the world to adopt a feminist foreign policy. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate Canada's claim. Through a feminist international relations lens, I reconceptualize the concepts of security and international ethics. This theory provides the yardstick for evaluating Canada's feminist foreign policy. Drawing on the text of Canada's Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP) this thesis conducts a critical discourse analysis. Through the critical discourse analysis, it becomes evident that FIAP discursively reproduces a number of gendered binaries, particularly between masculine donor states and feminine recipient states. This reproduction is incompatible with the feminist project of resisting and demolishing gender hierarchies and binaries.
