Abstract (eng)
The current diploma thesis tries to answer two questions regarding the implementation of CLIL-programs in the realm of Austrian upper-secondary education (Geography and Economics/English). On the one hand, it addresses the question whether the realization within Austrian classrooms applies to both, the principles of CLIL, as well as the didactic paradigms of the subject Geography and Economics. On the other hand, this thesis will investigate (institutional) support structures as well as the specific challenges that teachers encounter within their daily routine. From a methodological point of view, this will be achieved by comparing the didactic and theoretical principles to present state practice in Austrian classrooms as well as materials. This involves both, a survey among teachers from the wider area of Vienna, as well as an analysis of prefabricated didactic materials (schoolbooks) available in Austrian classrooms.
