Abstract (eng)
The Andalusian dialect is a variety of Spanish that faces particularly many prejudices. Especially striking is their inherent controversy: apart from praise, there also exist many critical voices, identifying the Andalusian dialect, for instance, with badly spoken Spanish. Consequently, it is of great interest to investigate how the speakers view and evaluate their variety despite those stereotypes deeply entrenched in the Andalusian society and, finally, which identity-establishing value it has for them. To examine this relatively unexplored field of research, a total of 1317 Facebook contributions of 6 groups and 5 sites were analyzed, resorting to the qualitative content analysis according to Mayring. The analysis not only reveals that the Facebook users have a very pronounced consciousness of the particularity of their language uses, but also that they evaluate these in an extremely positively way and make use of them in any communicative context, even outside of Andalusia and, partially, in written form, which is indicative of the identity-establishing value of the Andalusian dialect.
