Abstract (eng)
This diploma thesis deals with the answer to the research questions such as Bertolt Brecht depicts nature and the city in his early lyrical work and with which motifs he describes both places. The main focus of this work is on the thematic-motive presentation. A detailed poetry analysis with respect to metrics or rhythm is usually not the subject of the text. For this study, selected poems from the poetry collections Bertolt Brecht's Hauspostille and Aus dem Lesebuch für Städtebewohner were used. The thesis is divided into two parts: the first deals with the historical background. Thus, politics, society and culture in the Weimar Republic, Expressionism and New Objectivity – the poetry styles at the time when Brecht wrote his early poetry, the social perception of nature in relation to the then popular Wandervogel-movement as well as the social perception of the city as Moloch. The second part is dedicated to poetry. This part deals with Brecht's early lyrical style as well as the representation of nature and city in selected poems. Here, nature is usually described by perishing and incoming of man into the natural cycle and city by the cold, impersonal social behavior patterns.
