Abstract (eng)
This study aimed to find out what impact the Covid-19 pandemic had on the therapists' work and well-being from their point of view. Due to the current and new situation, there is no research from the psychotherapists' perspective yet. Data were collected using an exploratory, semi-structured interview. The author interviewed ten psychotherapists from Austria and Germany. Seven participants classified themselves as female and three as male. The psychotherapists were between 30 and 84 years old (M = 55.30, SD = 15.36). During the interview, the role of telephone and video therapy, as well as the impact of the pandemic on the therapeutic work and the therapeutic relationship were discussed. Furthermore, the therapists had the opportunity for their additions. These data were then analyzed according to the thematic analysis. Thereby the themes emerged: Presence therapy, telephone and video therapy, consequences and influence of the pandemic, lockdowns, and the future. In particular, initial knowledge was gained for presence therapy concerning hygiene requirements. The study further provided additional knowledge for telephone and video therapy in German-speaking countries. This study provides an initial foundation for subsequent research. Further research is important for investigating these results.
